"My AFL mentor has been a tremendous source of career advice and guidance. He has been extremely gracious, with his time and resources, allowing me to come in and observe intakes and depositions, in addition to our seasonal casual happy hours." – Ryan A. Bethell
We paired approximately 40 Sustaining Members with law students in 2013-14, and again in 2014-15. In 2015-16, we expanded the program to second-year associates at the ASU Alumni Law Group, and we continue to match interested Sustaining Members with students and new lawyers on an as-needed basis.
The George H. Lyons Mentor Award recipient is selected annually, based on mentee feedback and overall program commitment. The award is a fitting memory to Lyons, a longtime partner at Snell & Wilmer, dedicated mentor, and active participant in our organization.
We proudly support Ladder Down, a year-long program that provides direct training and career development through a combination of coaches, sponsors, and participants to empower women lawyers in leadership, business development, and mentoring.
"The AFL mentor program offers a truly unparalleled opportunity for young attorneys to develop close relationships with established practitioners. It can be difficult for newly minted attorneys to reach out for help or advice, but the mentor program is there for that very reason. My mentors are always eager to share their knowledge and experience, which has given me great confidence as I establish my own career." – M. Chance Peterson
